CORE VALUES
Since we began, we have always followed five core principles:
-
Heritage - 20 years of market experience, with a brand built upon the strong legacy of the Bhachu Group.
-
Strength - All products are mechanically and chemically tested to ensure only the strongest survive.
-
Reliability - Partners that can be trusted to always provide excellence in handling jobs of any nature.
-
Flexibility - Offering clients flexibility across all products, including special sizes upon request.
-
Vigilance - Always seeking constant process improvement within manufacturing, realising production efficiencies and enhancing product quality.
TESTING
For all products that we produce, we have our own in-house laboratory that performs mechanical and chemical tests to ensure that our goods are of the highest quality.

Sample Spectral Analysis (Chemical Testing)
Spectral analysis is a process of analysing the chemical composition of a sample of metal, based on the process of electromagnetic induction. In this process, we use a spectrometer to determine the percentage composition of various chemical elements in the sample.
Based on our pre-defined acceptance levels, we will use the results to determine whether a material can proceed to manufacture or whether it must be re-melted.

Tensile Testing (Mechanical Testing)
This is the mechanical process of measuring the stress that a metal can endure before it breaks. It is tested in a 'controlled' breakage to provide tensile strength, maximum elongation and reduction in area. A material that is not strong enough can then be analysed against its chemical test before it is re-melted and made stronger (reducing impurities).

Bend/Re-Bend Testing (Mechanical Testing)
This mechanical test is done prior to delivering a material to a construction site. It ensures that the metal has sufficient ductility to be bent while fabricating. Once bent, it is examined for cracks along the surface. If any appear, it will be instantly rejected and re-melted.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Steel manufacturing is a dirty business! In fact, Rif Miles Olsen (Two Planet Steel, USA) produced a report citing that 2015 worldwide carbon dioxide emissions from blast furnace iron smelting and associated coke-making were emitting 2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide. Clearly, this can get out of hand if not cared for.
At Accurate Steel Mills, we play our part towards ensuring that our business operations have the least environmental impact. We have a fully functional air extraction and purification system. It uses a funnel placed directly above the induction furnace (during operation) and it absorbs all the fumes emitted through the melting process. Harmful ozone gases (particularly Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide) are 'neutralised' through chemical reactions with reacting metals, purifying the air before it is released back into the ozone.

And we don't stop there! We then collect all of the dust and hazardous chemical waste particles in biodegradable sacks prior to disposal. This plays a major role in assisting governments in various plastic and non-biodegradable material bans, ensuring we are cooperating towards a better future for the country.

We also ensure that our production methods are always the most up to date and efficient. We are the only steel manufacturing plant in the country today that is using an Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD) process for manufacture. This process not only ensures that the production standard matches international levels, but it makes the process of steel more economical and, importantly, reduces the overall amount of waste and impurity let off by the system.

Finally, we are situated in the heart of a portion of Mukuru Slum, one of the biggest in Nairobi today with an estimated population of 700,000 inhabitants. To help combat the challenges such as crime and drug abuse, we ensure that the company employs 95% of its staff directly from the slum. This involves not only ensuring a steady income for workers and their families, but improving their technical skills and overall employability. We ensure that all workers are taken through health and safety drills, and are always operating processes with the correct protective gear necessary.
