As part of our commitment to social responsibility, we have implemented over ten impactful CSR initiatives spanning the health and wellness, education and employment sectors, among others. One of our flagship programs is the Boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) Road Safety Initiativea project dedicated to improving safety within one of the most vibrant and essential modes of transport in our area. Mukuru Sub-County, a low-income settlement with over 700,000 residents and the home of 95% of our workforce, hosts more than 5,000 Boda-boda riders who play a vital role in both local and national economies.

 

 

 

 

Beyond their community significance, the sector contributes billions to Kenya’s GDP and provides livelihoods to millions across the country. Despite their impact, many riders face serious challenges, including high accident rates, inadequate road safety training, lack of protective gear, and exposure to security risks. To address these issues, we launched a phased intervention program featuring the distribution of protective equipment such as helmets and reflectors and offering safety training sessions led by the Traffic Police Commander, the OCS, and the Local Chief. Through this initiative, we seek to strengthen the culture of safety that defines our internal operations while uplifting community standards; Promoting safer roads, empowered livelihoods and a more secure environment for all.
